Bklava ‘Boiler Room x AVA’
Bklava fuses her mixing skills with her soulful vocals in this mix - which starts with some soulful house but then transitions into ravey breakbeats. The set smoothly takes listeners through a variety of moods and also lets listeners hear some of her own tracks, including ‘Anywhere with you’. She seamlessly switches between genres, sings well, and always leaves you wondering what turn she'll take next. What a talent!

Om Unit b2b DjRUM at LSTD on SWU.FM
At another killer edition of Love Saves The Day this month, Bristol regulars Om Unit and DjRUM joined forces on the festival’s Transmission Stage where they went back to back for a 90-minute run of scorchers. Recorded on behalf of SWU FM, Bristol’s mainstay electronic radio station, the pair’s hybrid vinyl set gave way to both new tracks and old from the likes of Overmono, Bakey, and Special Request.
Riz La Teef ‘Dummy Mix 636’
In a frantic nod to the rich history of rave, Riz La Teef’s Dummy mix shone above the rest this month with a profession of his love for all things fast tempo. Featuring plenty of new unreleased cuts from the garage connoisseur himself, Riz La Teef’s also traversed tracks from dubstep gurus Mala and Sir Hiss, as well as new rollers from Daffy, Mainphase, and Y U QT.
Ploy ‘Mixmag In Session’
Ahead of the release of his brand new EP ‘Unit 18’, Ploy readies up a heady mix “filled with current club music”. With everything from Batu’s ‘Built On Sand’ to DJ Plead’s ‘RT04’, Ploy compiles an hour of music that he’s had on repeat. In his own words, this mix is packed with “rude rollers, speedy swingers, SoundCloud Baile bangers plus some of the raucous fast stuff and electro that inspired the last two tracks on the 'Unit 18’.”
BAEXPLOITATION: HOOD RAVE W/ JELLY on NTS
JELLY takes over Baexploitation with a blend of classic hits from the likes of ‘Millionaire’ by Kelis and Andre 3000 to Radiohead’s ‘Creep’. The funky feel-good mix reminisces on pioneering names of hip hop, dancehall and R&B. Pulling up almost-forgotten tracks along with modern twists, this mix radiates positive energy and spotlights some of the greats.
LOUISE CHEN W/ TYLER, THE CREATOR on NTS
Well, this is unexpected! Legendary rapper and producer Tyler, The Creator made a very special guest feature on NTS with one of our favourite radio presenters, Louise Chen. Kicking off with some ‘70s tracks, the mix continues along this soulful journey. Recorded in Louise’s home, there is a comforting and refreshing sense to the mix as Tyler doesn’t go for the obvious of playing rap but instead plays the likes of Ebo Taylor, Jan Hammer Group, Stevie Wonder and Ramsey Lewis.
Skin on Skin ‘Boiler Room x AVA Festival 2022’
If you haven’t seen this already, where have you been? The Australian DJ is the talk of the town after this breakthrough set at AVA Festival. Techno-heads and acid-ravers united over losing their mind to this set. Playing purely unreleased original tracks is a bold choice that paid off, with this set seeing the crowd grow and grow with passionate clubbers. From drill merged with techno to Snoop Dogg remixes, these unreleased tracks need to come out asap.
Bluetoof B2B Jossy Mitsu ‘15 June 2022 - Rinse FM’
A phenomenal b2b between Bluetoof and Jossy Mitsu sees their bass-heavy tracks collide together with whispers of disco in a techno tornado. It's surprising how this mix can work so well with such a mixture of tracks from ‘Old Lady Legal’ by Oall Hates to Shenseesa and Megan Thee Stallion’s ‘Lick’.
Lovefoxy ‘Mixmag Impact’
Berlin-based DJ Lovefoxy’s deliciously smooth mix serves up deep, soulful house cuts without any compromise on tempo or drums. Created with the aim to “make you jump”, this uplifting hour of sultry high-energy dance puts classics from Boo Wiliams, Trevor Rockcliffe and Chez Damier against modern reimagings from Denia, Steffi and Silvatari. Lovefoxy manages to illuminate the cavernous depths of house music while still keeping everything fun, light and most importantly unpretentious.
SHERELLE ‘BBC Radio 1 Presents Glastonbury’
We’re not ashamed to admit that we’re still mildly pining over Glastonbury, so it was a particular treat to listen back to some of the BBC Radio 1 Presents’ Stage sets across the airwaves in the days following from the likes of ABSOLUTE, KH (AKA Four Tet) and SHERELLE. The latter’s offering made this list due to her high-energy mix of jungle, hardcore, footwork and some good old fashioned Worthy Rave. Featuring spine-tingling tracks such as Addison Groove’s ‘Brand New Drop’, DJ Phil’s ‘See You In The Dance’ and Angel D’Lite’s ‘Re4mat’, it’s enough to have you staring at those only-just-cleaned-off wellies in the dark corners of your wardrobe wishing for a brisk Somerset evening. Look, there’s always next year!

D-Grade ‘Hue & Saturation Mix #35’
As an excerpt from the Sydney-based DJ’s performance at a “wedding doof,” this mix is curiously full throttle. But from what we’ve heard about doofs – maybe this could have been a relatively subdued affair. Spanning 1 hour 30 minutes, D-Grade’s offering from the Huge & Saturation series meanders between dark acid squelches, bristling lasers and some gloriously punk drums. With selections from producers such as JASSS, Autogenesis and DJ Purpur it's the perfect soundtrack to saying ‘I do’, I guess? At least it must have been for the crowd D-Grade describes as “30 seasoned stragglers bobbing like mad apes in the thick cold fog!'. Romantic!
Bloomfeld ‘Fact Mix 864’
Demonstrating exactly why he’s become one of the ones-to-watch in the Berlin scene, Bloomfield’s FACT mix spans everything from the bright pop nostalgia of Haddaway’s ‘What is Love’ to the rapturous gqom of DJ Lag and Sinjin Hawke’s ‘Raptor’ – all while saving room for some off-piste experimental club sounds and straight up techno slammers. It’s dark, explorative but doesn’t take itself too seriously.
