Regarded as one of the world's best techno clubs in the world, Bassiani attracts tourists from all over the globe and has a photography prohibited rule.

However, in 2018 the club was raided by authorities with the two owners were arrested, resulting in demonstrations.

Police stormed the clubs Bassiani and Café Gallery and Café Gallery in reaction to a string of drug-related deaths that have occurred over two weeks.

Despite occurring outside of the club, authorities claimed there was a link between the tragic deaths and the dance music venues.

Since then, the club is still standing and has been featured in a documentary in the documentary Midnight Frontier which delves into LGBTQI+ activism has been released online, focusing on Bassiani.

Peter van Langen created Midnight Frontier in 2019, the film had previously aired at big events such as ADE and is now accessible to see for free in an effort to highlight the prejudice many LGBTQI+ Georgians face.
