Electronic music pioneer Rustie (real name Russell White) has hinted a full return to the music industry after relaunching his social media accounts and confirming a May London show.

He first hinted at the return through launching new Instagram, Twitter and TikTok accounts with the handles @rustie808, with the description on his Instagram account simply reading: “soon.” None of the accounts are yet to post anything.

The long time Warp and Numbers affiliate has also been confirmed for new London festival Project 6 on May 26, where he will be hosting a room takeover at fabric for the event’s night time programme.

It’s just the third confirmed show from the Scottish artist since cancelling all of his gigs and deleting his social media accounts in 2015.

At the time, he posted on his Facebook page: “Due to addiction and mental health problems, all gigs in the near future are cancelled. Very, very sorry and hope to see you all soon.

His last gig came in December at Sub Club, which was his first show since 2017.

The artist, known for his creative fusion of hip hop, trap and UK bass, has released three studio albums – 2011’s ‘Glass Swords’, ‘Green Language’ in 2014 and ‘EVENIFUDONTBELIEVE’ in 2015.

He also released a track that year from his hospital bed, ‘160 Hospital Riddim’ after being admitted for treatment for his diabetes. At the time he tweeted: “They keep giving me extra free livez! So here another free track, made after waking in A&E’.

New South London festival Project 6 comes from the crew behind Outlook, Dimensions, and Cross The Tracks, with the day event taking place in Brockwell Park and the night programming at ten venues across London. Also on the line-up are the likes of Ghetts, Goldie, DJ Storm, DJ Flight and Mala & Joe Armon-Jones.
