SHERELLE and AIAIAI announce DJ academy and workshops

The academy will feature industry talks from PinkPantheress, Mura Masa, LCY, and Lil Silva

SHERELLE is launching a brand new DJ academy school with the help of audio company AIAIAI teaching workshops to aspiring DJs and producers.

From SHERELLE’s latest project BEAUTIFUL, which helps establish Black and queer emerging artists and gives them a push into the industry, each workshop will also enlist prolific artists to help aspiring students.

The string of free workshops will take place from the beginning of October and run throughout the month with four classes in total bringing in 15 students.

SHERELLE is set to teach all four workshops with the help of guests including LCY, Mura Masa, Lil Silva, PinkPantheress, and more.

Students will get the chance to learn hands-on, and will also receive lectures and talks from industry specialists including Phoebe Gold (manager, PinkPantheress), Errol (Touching Bass), Mitch Stevens (Revenant Earth), Hannah Shogbola (United Talent) and a special guest.

Classes will also go to depths on the history of Black and queer artists and their importance and prevalence in the history of dance music, and how to navigate the industry.

To kick off the course, the first lesson will be aided by the help of music journalist, DJ, and author, Marcus Barnes, speaking about the historical and political impact of Black music.

The final lesson in October will be focused on the impact of Black music culturally, with conversations between both SHERELLE and PinkPantheress about her rise to success.

Artists are encouraged to enrol now - submissions close on August 22. Find out more about enrolment here, and check out SHERELLE’s new platform, BEAUTIFUL, here.
