Houghton Festival adds Roy Ayers, Dr Banana, Moxie to final 2023 line-up

Roy Ayers will play a special live performance as part of his farewell tour

Houghton Festival adds Roy Ayers, Dr Banana, Moxie to final 2023 line-up

Houghton Festival has added the final names to its line-up for the upcoming 2023 edition, which will once again take place at Houghton Hall in Norfolk between August 10 and August 13.

There will be live performances from soul and jazz icon Roy Ayers as part of his EU farewell tour, as well as US comedian, beatboxer and musician Reggie Watts.

Deadbeat featuring Tikiman, Osibisa and Maketoi have also been announced, who will plat live electronic sets.

DJ-wise, Dr Banana, Moxie, Tasha, Manasseh and Notting Hill Carnival resident Aba Shanti-I have been added to the bill.

They join an already stacked line-up of artists, with the likes of Ricardo Villalobos, Zip, Yu Su, Ben UFO, Peach, Jane Fitz, Nicolas Lutz, Batu, Evan Baggs, Margaret Dygas, Raresh and Bobby. all already announced from the first wave of announcements.

Commenting on the announcement of the final additions, Craig Richards, the Creative Director of Houghton Festival and long time fabric resident said: “We are delighted and very proud to announce our final guests.

“The addition of these highly talented performers adds further dimension to our musical statement for 2023,” he continued.

“The curation of the festival will always revolve around juxtaposition and variety. The care and consideration with which we present the music is incredibly important to us.

“The completed programming allows even greater possibilities for the inspired music lover and clearly defines Houghton as a unique place of wonder and discovery.”

Following three straight years of cancellations, two as a result of COVID-19 pandemic restrictions and the 2019 edition called off due to extreme wind, Houghton Festival returned in glorious form last August. Read Mixmag’s review here.
