Björk cancels Moscow show due to "current events"

The Icelandic star joins several other musicians to pull shows out of Russia

Björk cancels Moscow show due to "current events"

Björk has pulled an orchestral show from Moscow, which was due to have taken place in June, due to "current events."

The Moscow show was originally billed to take place in 2020, before being rescheduled two times because of the pandemic, and being completely cancelled.

The musician did not mention Ukraine in her justification but cited "current events" as her reason for cancellation.

On Instagram, the caption reads: "in light of current events the Björk orchestral show in Moscow has been cancelled."

Björk has now joined a slew of artists to cancel shows in Russia, including Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Iggy Pop, Green Day and Russian rapper Oxxxymiron.

Despite cancelling the Moscow show, the rest of the Icelandic musician's shows will go ahead as normal.

Recently Spotify has also closed its offices in Moscow in response to Russia’s President Vladimir Putin's ongoing invasion of Ukraine.
