Burial and Kode9 drop surprise two-track release on Hyperdub
The split 12-inch single, titled ‘Phoneglow / Eyes Go Blank’, is out today
Burial and Kode9 have linked back up to release a surprise two-tracker on Hyperdub, ‘Phoneglow / Eyes Go Blank’.
The split 12-inch single landed today (June 18) after being teased on social media. The release comes alongside the London label’s 20th anniversary celebrations.
“Burial / Kode9 Split,” Hyperdub revealed last night on Twitter. “Streams from midnight tonight. Vinyl Preorder direct from Bandcamp & Hyperdub only.”

The release features two tracks, the first from Burial, ‘Phoneglow’, a characteristically garage-leaning, vocal-led track spanning a nine-minute playtime.
The second track from Kode9, ‘Eyes Go Blank’, is an experimental release with elements of footwork, jungle, and IDM. Listen to both tracks below.
The two-tracker is a follow-up to the pair's surprise EP on fabric Originals released last summer, 'Infirmary/Unknown Summer'. Ahead of the EP, a billboard appeared in East London giving cryptic clues about its release.

The pair were the last to helm the long-running FABRICLIVE 100 series five years ago in 2018 - their last joint project since their collaborative 2023 EP.
In January, XL Recordings teased a new solo release from Burial with a 14-second audio snippet online. After much speculation, details of a 12” release landed, revealed as a double-tracker titled 'Dreamfear'.
