After speculation earlier this month, details of a new 12” release from Burial on XL Recordings have been confirmed, looking set for a February drop. Pre-order it here.

Listings for the new record appeared online on January 16, revealed as a double-tracker titled 'Dreamfear'. Select record stores made "very limited" white label copies available, restricting purchases to one per customer. Check out the artwork below.

The 12" release features a title track and a B-side named 'Boy Sent From Above', as confirmed by XL. The release will land on February 9 via the London label.

It comes just weeks after the label released a 14-second snippet of a track from the elusive producer, posted via social media at the start of the month. The clip revealed a new club-focused sound familiar to his classic productions, a change-up from his recent ambient, stripped-back releases.

Alongside the release of the two-tracker, XL has made a limited run of merchandise including a jumper, t-shirt, vinyl and stickers available for pre-order. Check them out here.

The release marks his first outing on the label following a string of recent releases outside of Kode9’s imprint, where he’s been releasing music for the past 19 years.

Burial’s last release came in July 2023, teaming up with Kode9 on a surprise collaboration titled 'Infirmary/Unknown Summer' on fabric Originals, a new imprint from the London institution.

The collaboration between the two Hyberdub affiliates was released on July 21, 2023, after the label teased a joint release via cryptic billboards around East London. It marked the pair’s first link-up in five years since the release of their acclaimed FABRICLIVE 100 mix.

Consisting of Burial’s ‘Unknown Summer’ and Kode9’s ‘Infirmary’, the EP became available over the summer both digitally and on a limited edition vinyl in clear, black and silver.

Check out a snippet of Burial’s forthcoming release on XL Recordings below, and pre-order 'Dreamfear' via XL here.
