The collaboration between the two Hyberdub affiliates is due for release on July 21 via fabric Originals

Burial and Kode9 announce new two-tracker 'Infirmary/Unknown Summer'

Hyberdub affiliates Kode9 and Burial have just announced a new two-track EP 'Infirmary/Unknown Summer', set for release via fabric Originals on July 21.

Consisting of Burial’s ‘Unknown Summer’ and Kode9’s ‘Infirmary’, the EP will be released both digitally and on a limited edition vinyl - in clear, black and silver.

fabric shared the news earlier today via the imprint's Instagram page, though there have been a number of cryptic clues of the release — including a billboard that appeared in in East London at the end of last month.The pair were the last to helm the long-running FABRICLIVE 100 series five years ago.

The artists are widely regarded as pioneers of experimental, contemporary electronic music — ranging from futuristic ambient to club-ready techno, dubstep and bass gems.

The reclusive Burial, who has chosen to stay anonymous for the majority of his career, was the first to be signed to Kode9’s Hyperdub in 2005. He quickly earned a reputation for dark, emotive takes on UK bass genres such as dubstep and UKG.

After being awarded the title of "Album Of The Year" by The Wire, he embarked on acclaimed collaborations with Four Tet and Massive Attack.

As one of the of the forefathers of the early dubstep scene and holder of a Ph.D. in Philosophy from Warwick University, Kode9’s memetic approach to music and genre origins allowed him to carve a niche within London's underground scene. His Hyperdub label has signed numerous successful artists, such as the late DJ Rashad.

Though still in its infancy, fabric Originals has continued producing a steady outflow of EPs, with releases that transcend genre constraints from the likes of LCY, SHERELLE & I. JORDAN.
