Berghain is set to reopen this weekend as restrictions lift in Berlin

The very first Klubnacht in almost three months

This weekend, Berlin’s most notorious club will reopen its doors to revellers for the first time in almost three months.

Berghain will open back up on Saturday, March 5, as clubs reopen fully across the city for the first time in nearly two years.

In June last year, Berlin’s Senate announced the easing of restrictions on nightlife, however, these permissions were redacted toward the end of the year as Omicron spread to Germany.

Last week, the Senate made another announcement detailing Berlin’s reopening strategy with nightclubs now allowed to open back up tomorrow, March 4.

Berghain’s first Klubnacht since December was then revealed with a line-up boasting the likes of Ellen Allien, Lakuti, DJ Fart In The Club, Dr. Rubinstein, and more.

In the weeks following, more regular events from Paramida’s Love On The Rocks parties, Lakuti and Tama Sumo's Your Love night, and a PAN event are all set to take place.

Regular Saturday Klubnacht events will continue with guests from DJ Stingray 313, Nene H, Matrixxman, Rødhåd, and others over the course of March.

Local regulations in Berlin will allow all clubs to reopen this weekend with certain restrictions in place. While guests are no longer asked to wear masks or comply with a "dance ban," everyone must take a test before heading into the club whether vaccinated or not.

Punters will also be asked to follow the "2G rule" and show proof of vaccination or recovery. "The Berlin Senate followed our suggestion for no further mandatory hygiene measures inside of the clubs,” the Berlin Clubcommission's Lutz Leichsenring told Mixmag.

After closing in March 2020, Berghain was shuttered for more than a year before it reopened outdoors in the summer of 2021. In October, the club temporarily opened back up indoors but was asked to close again by the end of the year following a rise in cases.
