Joe James releases debut album ‘The Ends, Never Ends’
Southend-hailing rapper Joe James has released his debut album ‘The Ends, Never Ends’ via Neighbourhood.
“This album isn’t for the club,” Joe explains. “It’s not dance music. I wanted it to sound abstract, jazzy and soulful. It’s something you listen to while driving, walking, sitting on the tube with your headphones on. Smoke a spliff, ride your bike, go up a mountain, that type of feeling.”
The 14-track LP has guest features from Astrønne, Hak Baker, Lancey Foux, Loyle Carner and Dave.
It’s informed by his unstable childhood spent living in 13 different locations by the time he’d got to secondary school and the solace he found in poetry and music.
“I want this album to age well. I want people to go back and talk about it for years to come. Maybe it will make some people feel not so alone. I’d like that. I know for me, making this album has been a weight off my chest,” he adds.
A video for album track ‘Ignorance Was Never Bliss’ feat. Loyle Carner is also out now.
