​Travis Scott, Drake and Live Nation are being sued for $2 billion

282 people affected by the Astroworld tragedy on November 5 are filing lawsuits against Travis Scott, Drake, Live Nation, and others involved in the event.

The lawsuit against those involved in organising the event, which also includes Apple Music and NRG Stadium, now amounts to $2 billion according to attorney Thomas J. Henry.

Henry looks after all 282 claimants and said that a further 120 Astroworld attendees have since approached him after the lawsuit was filed.

“My clients want to ensure the defendants are held responsible for their actions, and they want to send the message to all performers, event organisers, and promoters that what happened at Astroworld cannot happen again,” he said in a statement.

“The defendants stood to make an exorbitant amount of money off of this event, and they still chose to cut corners, cut costs, and put attendees at risk.”

10 people have now passed away after the event in Houston, Texas, including a nine-year-old boy, following a crowd surge causing attendees to sustain serious and fatal injuries, with many hospitalised.

In an interview with Hollywood Life, Henry told the news outlet that “those who were injured are still very traumatised because they had to step over dead bodies.”

“They didn’t have a choice because there was nowhere to move. These people were trapped… They couldn’t breathe. They couldn’t get out. The unbelievable emotional anxiety of being trapped and that much weight being on you, you can’t do anything,” he said.

Drake has also come under fire for his part in Astroworld Festival. The Canadian rapper attended an afterparty shortly after the event with Travis Scott, both of which were supposedly “unaware” of the severity of the incident.

The Rolling Stone also reported that Apple Music “played a critical role in the crowd-control disaster”, and will face the same charges.

“Early reports from the investigation of the Astroworld catastrophe indicate that the premises were arranged in a fashion that best served Apple’s online streaming of the concert at the detriment to concertgoer safety,” the lawsuit reads.
