New Order have announced a one-off show in Halifax next month.

The ex-Factory Records flagship band will be performing at the Grade I-listed outdoor venue, the Piece Hall, on Wednesday, September 8.

Due to cancellations related to COVID-19, including their co-headline North American tour with Pet Shop Boys, the West Yorkshire date will mark the Manchester outfit’s first live show since March 2020.

Support for the date comes from LoneLady and DJ Tintin. Of the news, Nicky Chance-Thompson DL, Chief Executive of The Piece Hall Trust, has said:

“We are so excited to welcome the brilliant New Order, together with LoneLady to our courtyard, completing our top line up of talent for this summer’s ‘Live at The Piece Hall’ gigs. An iconic band playing an iconic venue - what could be better!"

“We’ve been working hard, behind the scenes, to ensure we can welcome everyone, safely, to our outdoor courtyard area. This will be a gig to remember. As their last album put it, Music Complete.”

The Piece Hall show precedes the band’s hometown performance in Manchester’s Heaton Park, which takes place two days later on September 10.

Earlier this year, New Order released a live album ‘Education Entertainment Recreation.’ Recorded during their Alexandra Palace concert in late 2018, the LP contains intimate versions of tracks from across their discography, as well as some Joy Division material.

Tickets for the Piece Hall show go on sale at 10:AM on Friday August 6.
