Pet Shop Boys’ new single ‘Cricket wife’ is nearly 10 minutes long

The song will arrive alongside their new 64-page hardback book Annually 2021

Pet Shop Boys’ new single ‘Cricket wife’ is nearly 10 minutes long

Pet Shop Boys are releasing a new single titled ‘Cricket wife’ on May 7.

It arrives as part of a two-track CD single that will accompany Annually 2021, the next edition of their yearly hardback book. The other featured track is a “lockdown version” of the duo’s hit single ‘West End Girls’ which was first shared in June last year.

‘Cricket wife’ was also made during lockdown, with Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe each recording their parts separately from each other at home.

The single is described as classical and orchestral, with lyrics taken from a poem previously written by Tennant.

Annually 2021 is 64 pages long, with a feature chronicling the landmark year of 1986 in the Pet Shop Boys career through diary extracts and archival images contained within, alongside details on their life in lockdown across the past year, exclusive photography, answers to fan letters, and more.
