Mark Ernestus' Ndagga Rhythm Force take to Manchester next month

The Marcus Intalex Music Foundation, created in honour of the late producer, has invited Mark Ernestus' Ndagga Rhythm Force to play at Manchester's Band on the Wall venue on July 26, with all proceeds of the event going to the Foundation.

It will play as part of a larger programme, titled Music Connects Us.

Mark Ernestus' Ndagga Rhythm Force consists of a Senegalese nine-piece Mblax group, which is mixed in real time by Ernestus, who is best known as the founder of Berlin's legendary Hard Wax record store.

The event will also include workshops - centred around Senegalese music, dance and culture - which have been arranged by the Foundation. These include a Sabar dance workshop for children aged six through 11 (which will explore the “vibrant dance and drumming tradition origination from the Wolof people in Senegal, West Africa”) and an Ableton workshop focusing on “Rhythmic Awareness and Sampling” facilitated by the Ndagga Rhythm Force and local Senegalese musicians.

For more information about the event, head to the Marcus Intalex Music Foundation website.
