Kornél Kovács announces new album 'Hotel Koko'

Studio Barnhus co-founder Kornél Kovács has just announced new album 'Hotel Koko', set for release on October 14.

Alongside the news, the Stockholm-based DJ and producer shared his garage-infused first single, and LP closing track, 'Follow You', featuring Aluna.

Other collaborators on the record include "techno boy band" Off The Meds, Kamohelo and Costa Rican singer-songwriter MishCatt.

'Hotel Koko' is Kovács' first full-length LP since 2019's 'Stockholm Marathon', and will be released on the Swedish musician's imprint Studio Barnhus — a label he co-founded in 2010 alongside Axel Boman and Petter Nordkvist.

The concept from the record comes by way of a fictional "Hotel Koko," with each track representing a different door.

“I wanted this album to centre around a fictional, dreamlike place. I’ve often had friends staying at my flat in Stockholm while I’ve been away touring or recording. At one point I wrote down some basic information and silly 'house rules' on a paper, making it look like stationery for a 'Hotel Koko'" Kovács reveals.

"I found that piece of paper while cleaning my flat a while back, that’s when the idea and the album title fell into place. I think all hotels, from the shabbiest to the most luxurious, have a sense of fantasy and mystique about them, they’re these “liminal spaces” if you will, where anything could happen behind the locked hotel room doors.”

'Hotel Koko' will be out October 14 on Studio Barnhus, you can pre-order here.
