Glastonbury to ban sales of single-use plastic bottles for 2022
The policy has been praised by Sir David Attenborough
This year’s Glastonbury will see a ban on the sales of single-use plastic bottles as part of its policy that was introduced at the 2019 festival.
Emily Eavis has confirmed that the policy will be running at this year’s Glastonbury via a post on Instagram that states: “With 28 days to go till gates open, I wanted to remind everyone that, as in 2019, single-use plastic drinks bottles will not be sold on-site at Glastonbury 2022.”
She adds that “we did so well in 2019, saving 1.7 million bottles from landfill!”

At the 2019 edition, Sir David Attenborough made a surprise appearance on the Pyramid Stage announcing his support for the ban of single-use plastic bottles.
Recently, Glastonbury’s Silver Hayes has revealed its full line-up along with two new stages to showcase these acts.
The new stages, The Lonely Hearts Club and Firmly Rooted will have headliners including Overmono, HAAi, Avalon Emerson, Nia Archives and TSHA perform.

Arcadia will also welcome some firsts in both Glastonbury and electronic music history: a debut Glastonbury performance from Calvin Harris, and a back-to-back jungle set from Carl Cox and Chase and Status.
The main festival line-up includes Billie Eilish, Paul McCartney, Kendrick Lamar and Diana Ross as well as a slew of electronic names including Four Tet, Bicep, and Caribou.
Glastonbury will take place from June 22 to 27 at the famous Worthy Farm in Somerset for the first time since 2019.
