Diagonal Records to release new Autechre remix on forthcoming compilation
The remix is taken from the imprint’s celebratory 13th birthday compilation album featuring new and unreleased tracks by artists from its roster
Diagonal Records, co-founded by Oscar Powell and Jaime Williams, have announced plans to release a new remix by electronic duo Autechre.
Dark, ambient and highly experimental, the remix of Russell Haswell, titled 'Heavy Handed Sunset (Autechre Form Conversion)’, is in fact a remix of a track already remixed by Autechere in 2016, with 'Heavy Handed Sunset (Autechre Conformity Version)''.
The release comes at the same time as two other tracks from the label, ‘Payday’ by Yally and ‘No U Turn (Mark Broom edit)' by Powell, both available via Bandcamp for whatever price you choose to pay.

The new remix by Autechre has been taken from Diagonal Records forthcoming celebratory 13th birthday compilation album, '13', slated for release October 18.
'13' will feature new and unreleased tracks by artists from the label’s roster, or “family”, as Powell describes it in a press release.
The 19-track compilation project will be split across a series of four 12” LPs, bound together by elastic bands, a metaphor for the imprint’s own role in uniting its various producers and their distinct creative approaches.
“The music is what binds us together, but all the artists are characterised by a certain spirit of independence,” says Powell.

'13' represents a portrait of this diversity and reflects the label’s evolution over the years by including producers who were there when it started 13 years ago, such as Russell Haswell and Regis, alongside newer additions to the gang, such as Not Waving and Jim O’Rourke.
Other highlights from the record include a collaboration between Powell and Kae Tempest, plus an unreleased track from his 2018 collaboration with Wolfgang Tillmans.
The album will also be accompanied by a book designed by Guy Featherstone, containing intimate interviews with the label’s founders, photos from over the years and stories that depict its history.

“The label was established as a group of friends; like-minded people from all over the world. We have grown up, and in doing so, the label has become a sort of family, at the same time as some of us have started our own.” says Powell.
In true celebratory spirit, Diagonal Records will be going on tour this Autumn, playing across Bristol, Birmingham, Liverpool, Glasgow and Manchester, and hosting the likes of Powell, Not Waving, Russell Haswell, and Gescom.
Autechere will not be joining Diagonal Records on tour as the duo are set to play their own three-date Scandinavian tour in the coming weeks.
They also recently announced their “only UK show of 2025” on February 22 at Manchester’s New Century.
