Decade-old unreleased Autechre and Gescom tracks leaked on YouTube

11 decade-old unreleased tracks from Autechre and Gescom have been leaked on YouTube, and since confirmed real by the group’s Sean Booth.

The collection of tracks appeared on YouTube over the weekend (July 24), with several tracks attributed to Autechre, the electronic duo consisting of Sean Booth and Rob Brown, and the rest to Gescom, whom both members also appeared under.

While none of the tracks appear to have names, the years in which they were made appear to sit between 2005 and 2011. Autechre and Gescom’s founding member Sean Booth confirmed the track dates and appearances in the comment section.

“It's one of two CDs I burned for playing a DJ set at Dave Hanal's birthday party in mcr. I left it in his laptop by mistake, oops,” Sean said on the leaked tracks.

“Not much of it is solo stuff (two tracks, you can guess) and there's a few I didn't work on but were recorded in my studio, apologies to those concerned (who will remain nameless of course).”

He also added that most of these recordings were unfinished while others are “just parts”, or were cut off early and never finalised.

Of those that appear in the collection - which has since been called ‘Hanalgig’ by its creator - four tracks are from Autechre, six are from Gescom, and the remaining track is a DJ mix made by Booth in 1988.

While the tracks were originally unconfirmed as true by their poster, fans suspected that they were unreleased works from Autechre’s ‘Exai’ era in 2013.

Before the leaked release, Booth took part in an ‘ask me anything’ on Twitch which lasted five hours and saw the producer answering questions on production, old releases, and new works. In it, he teased the reissue of the 2001-release ‘Confield’ and 2003-released ‘Draft 7.30’.
