Overmono release new single ‘Walk Thru Water’
Out today via XL, the emotional track samples St. Panther
Overmono have released a new single, ‘Walk Thru Water’ on XL Recordings.
Available today (November 17) as a digital-only track, the song features a sample of LA-based singer, songwriter and producer St. Panther.
Announcing the release, the Russell brothers (AKA Tessela and Truss) wrote on Instagram: “Vocal is sampled from @stpanther who has this unbelievable way of making their voice sound so different on every record.
“Remember it coming together late one night when we got back to the hotel after a show.. we wrote these chords as soon as we got in and spent the next few nights after each show chopping and pitching the vocal, blasting it out of a little Bluetooth speaker,” they continued.

“As soon as it was ready we started to play it live and it quickly became one of our favourite parts of the set, so it felt right to get this one out before the end of the year.”
Filled with floating, emotional pads and a beat that sounds inspired by contemporary R&B, ‘Walk Thru Water’ is chocked full of the heartstring-tugging moments that has become signature for the brothers.
Overmono have had a prolific year, releasing their five-track ‘Cash Romantic’ EP in April, which included hit track ‘Gunk’.
The duo first exhibited ‘Walk Thru Water’ during their headline live show at London’s KOKO in September – the first show in their headline UK and EU tour.

Their signature live shows were also a regular fixture during this summer’s festival circuit, playing sets at Glastonbury, Dekmantel, We Out Here, Parklife, AVA and Germany’s Melt, alongside others.
In September, they also released their second joint release with Joy Orbison, ‘Blind Date’, which featured vocals from US singer-songwriter ABRA.
