BLUMITSU release debut EP ‘The Formula’
The two-tracker marks the first release from the duo, made up of Bluetoof and Jossy Mitsu
BLUMITSU released their debut project, entitled ‘The Formula’.
The two-tracker marks the first release from the duo, made up of Bluetoof and Jossy Mitsu, and is described as a “heartfelt homage to the rich history of electro, dipping into the retro-futuristic world-building pioneered by artists such as Drexciya.”
According to a press release, 'The Formula' combines the “North African-influenced percussive flickers of Bluetoof’s work" with “echoes of the frenetic bass-infused UK techno of Jossy Mitsu.”

The duo first performed together on an “impromptu” merging of their two Rinse shows, both UK club heavyweights in their own right — going on to perform together at Brussels' Horst festival, Bristol's Love Saves The Day, London's Project 6 and more.
Their shared love of techno and electro has seen them experiment with and explore new sounds in their solo playing, finally culminating in the release of their first project.
The project builds in energy, with the opening track ‘The Formula’ described as the "centre" of the record both “sequentially and conceptually."
The following track ‘Hypocritz’ takes a darker turn, primed for the early hours of a club setting with a driving 4x4 kick pattern and “hypnotic synth fidgets”.
