Beyoncé bidding for GRAMMY dance/electronic nomination for 'Break My Soul'

The 28 time-GRAMMY-winner has never featured in these categories before

Beyoncé is looking to score her first-ever GRAMMY award within the dance/electronic categories, for single ‘Break My Soul’.

From her club-focused album ‘Renaissance’, the track samples house music legend Robin S.’ 1990-released track ‘Show Me Love’.

Beyoncé has won 28 GRAMMY awards in a multitude of categories over the course of her career — from Pop Solo Performance in 2020 to Best Immersive Audio Album in 2017. But a win for 'Break My Soul' would mark Bey's first in a dance/electronic category.

‘Break My Soul’ was submitted for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Dance/Electronic Recording. While ‘Renaissance’ was submitted for Album of the Year and Best Dance/Electronic Album.

A huge line-up of producers and collaborators have worked on the album including the likes of Honey Dijon (‘Cozy’), Skrillex (‘Energy’), Green Velvet (‘Cozy’), A.G Cook (‘All Up In Your Mind’), and Boi-1da (‘Heated’).

In a statement uploaded to her website the day before the album’s release, Beyoncé said: “This three act project was recorded over three years during the pandemic. My intention was to create a safe place. A place without judgement. A place to be free of perfectionism and overthinking. A place to scream, release, feel freedom.

“A big thank you to my Uncle Johnny,” she wrote. “He was my godmother and the first person to expose me to a lot of the music and culture that serve as inspiration for this album. Thank you to all of the pioneers who originate culture, to all of the fallen angels whose contributions have gone unrecognized for far too long. This is a celebration for you.”

The statement also paid respect to her “beautiful husband and muse” Jay-Z and her family.
