Moog Music releases statement after staff cuts at its headquarters
In a “new approach” the company have reportedly laid off over 30 workers in Asheville, North Carolina
Moog Music has shared a statement following layoffs among its staff in Asheville, North Carolina.
Earlier this week reports had spread that the synth giant had laid off workers at its headquarters just months after it was acquired by the audio equipment company inMusic.
Moog has since released a statement confirming that layoffs had happened within its production team.

According to Music Tech, 30 Asheville workers reportedly lost their jobs with Moog sharing that these people “represented friends, siblings, spouses” and that it “hasn’t been easy for anyone.”
Rumours had also spread that the manufacturing plant would move to Taiwan with the statement confirming that its HQ will remain in Asheville with manufacturing support coming from overseas.
Moog adds: “These changes are necessary for the future of Moog as we continue to face the ongoing challenges of manufacturing electronic instruments in America.
“We have a talented group of employees in Asheville who are committed to bringing you the best-sounding electronic instruments in the world. We’re here because we love these instruments, and we will continue to stay focused on developing inspiring musical tools for our creative community.”

The statement concludes: “We’re grateful for the passion and care you have shown us. We ask that you please continue to show consideration to our employees and keep an open mind as we put the finishing touches on some of our most innovative instruments yet.”
In June, Moog was taken over by US conglomerate inMusic, which already owns Akai, Alesis, Denon, M-Audio, Marantz, and Numark.
Moog opened its headquarters in Asheville in 2011 with it becoming employee-owned in 2015.
Staff controlled 49 per cent of the company, however, they were bought out in the transfer with inMusic.
