US-based subscription service and record label Vinyl Me, Please is opening up a brand new pressing plant in Denver, Colorado, sprawling across an enormous 14,000 square foot.

The self-coined “audiophile-grade vinyl pressing plant” is set to open later this year providing production services, tours, and special events in the western state of Colorado.

“As VMP approaches a decade of creating transcendent, tangible experiences with music, we are thrilled to announce that we will be opening a new audiophile-grade pressing plant in Denver,” the company announced on Instagram at the end of April.

The plant will be located in the River North Art District just a short walk from Denver’s Mission Ballroom venue, where it will host listening areas, a cafe, and a bar by night.

Speaking to Westworld, VMP’s CEO Cameron Schaefer said: “What we've seen is, essentially, the demand for pressing vinyl over the last two years far outpacing supply for pressing records.

“About a year ago, we were really digging in on this analysis, because obviously, the vinyl supply chain was pretty critical to our business.

“And as we started interviewing heads of major labels and heads of pressing plants and distributors, we learned that last year at this time, there were about 300 million units of pressing demand worldwide, chasing about 150 million units of global capacity.”

The pressing plant will also act as an “experimental space with fans in mind”, malleable to different events and experiences where music lovers can witness first-hand how records are made.

Vinyl Me, Please’s latest creation will be run by Quality Record Pressings’ Gary Salstrom. “I’m thrilled to have the resources and partners required to make the best vinyl LPs ever produced, in a place where the experience will be as special as the finished goods,” he said.

Construction of the new plant is set to begin in June, with an opening date currently pencilled in for October. The cafe, bar, and tours will come shortly after, set to open in early 2023. Find out more about VMP’s new pressing plant here.
