Sydney-based party series Picnic Stuff has announced it will no longer be running after 15 years.

Headed by DJ and promoter Carly Roberts, Picnic will be throwing one last party next month also celebrating its birthday.

Previously parties included headline sets Andrew Weatherall and Moodymann as well as many other huge names.

The party also saw DJ Harvey, Peggy Gou, Jayda G and others make their Australian debut as well as them takeover the iconic Sydney Opera House with Robert Hood, Moritz von Oswald and Yaeji.

Talking to Mixmag as part of our promoter-led series Functions, Carly spoke to us about Picnic turning 15: “It feels wild and has only been achieved by equal parts tenacity, passion, hustle, love and a sprinkle of luck and insanity.”

Carly also mentioned that she had once felt “done” with Picnic due to the impact from COVID and the Sydney lockouts.

She added: “Thankfully I had a few experiences - oddly at some of the hardest times - that made me remember why I do this still and am more determined to make it more sustainable rather than stop.”

The closing statement from Picnic reads: “With a heavy heart, but a positive outlook, today I announce the final curtain call(s), but I do so without saying goodbye and good riddance, as if there’s one thing I know for sure, it’s that I do have more to give.”

The final Picnic party will be celebrating 15 years at the Sydney Opera House on May 26 with Levon Vincent, Barney Kato b2b Reenie and a set from organiser Carly (Kali).
