FC Barcelona has joined forces with Spotify on a new series of ‘Player Playlists’, pulling together tracks that motivate and inspire Barcelona players from both the men’s and women’s teams.

Following an initial partnership with FC Barcelona which saw the release of players’ Spotify Wrapped at the end of 2022, the streaming platform has now enlisted a selection of footballers to put together playlists of tracks that motivate them.

On Monday, January 30, Spotify released ‘Player Playlists’, which revealed two playlists from Barcelona’s Pedri and Alexia and Putellas. Each matchday playlist highlights tracks that ‘get them prepared to play’ and motivate players before a game.

“I’m really happy to take over the Matchday playlist and share my favourite tracks. Music is all around us as football players from training to the changing room before and after matches,” says Pedri on his selections.

Meanwhile, women’s team captain Alexia Putellas has put together a playlist including tracks from Bad Bunny, Beyoncé, Rosalía, Shakira, and Tiësto.

“We are all so passionate about our music in the team and I am proud to be the first Barça Femení player to curate the Matchday playlist,” said Putellas. “I hope fans will enjoy the music and feel what it’s like to be among the players as we get pumped up for a match!”

Both playlists make up a larger partnership between Spotify and FC Barcelona, which also includes a ‘Dream Team’ podcast where Spotify CEOs chatted about the new partnership as part of the streaming platform’s ‘For The Record’ series.

In March last year, upon announcement of the partnership, Barcelona shared that its iconic stadium would be renamed ‘Spotify Camp Nou’ as the long-term sponsorship deal launched in July.
