Silver Hayes unveils new mushroom-inspired pavilion for Glastonbury 2023
The Hayes Pavilion art project explores a “fungi future” for creatives and celebrates 10 years of Silver Hayes
Glastonbury’s dance music-focused field, Silver Hayes, is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a new art installation exhibiting mushroom materials.
The all-new Hayes Pavilion aims to showcase how fungi - when transformed into mycelium - can be used as a sustainable material replacing polystyrene, foam and plastics on top of being organic and compostable.
This environmentally friendly “fungi future” project will also host a specially commissioned immersive sound composition with artists Brian d'Souza aka. Auntie Flo and DJ Or:la in collaboration with harpist Roísín Berkeley.

According to Silver Hayes, the music will highlight the “ties between people and places that emulate the connectivity of mushrooms.”
Six weeks prior to the festival the creatives will test the possibilities of mycelium before exhibiting their findings.
The mycelium project from the Hayes Pavilion will be published in a report after Glastonbury to share recommendations on how the biomaterial is best used.

Ben Price, Arts Producer of Silver Hayes at Glastonbury: “The Silver Hayes field is entering its next decade at Glastonbury. To mark this evolution, we’re pushing the area’s programming beyond its electronic boundaries and into new cutting-edge ideas and future technologies.
He continued: “Art, design, debate and the visual culture that surrounds music will now be at core of our offering - exploring what's next in different dimensions”.
Silver Hayes will also be launching at this year’s festival, The Information, which is an experimental art pavilion supported by Arts Council England described by the festival as a “powerful platform for urgent debate, putting forward-thinking conversation side-by-side with contemporary electronic music programming.”
The Hayes Pavilion will be based in Silver Hayes field throughout Glastonbury Festival open to the public daily from 12PM to 12AM.
