Sama’ Abdulhadi is helming Phonox's first residency of 2023
Joining the Palestinian DJ in January will be Victor Ruiz, Jennifer Cardini and Union DJs
Palestinian DJ Sama’ Abdulhadi has just been announced as the next Phonox resident, taking over the Brixton club each Friday in January 2023.
For her edition of the 4 Fridays at Phonox series, she has invited Brazilian selector Victor Ruiz, Jennifer Cardini and Union DJs – a music and arts collective set up in her hometown of Ramallah, Palestine. Sama’ will also play all night long on January 13.
Announcing the residency, she said: “I am hugely excited to join the long list of iconic artists who have hosted the 4 Fridays at Phonox residency in London.

“I loved playing at the club earlier this year for my Bring Back Beirut fundraiser and loved the energy of the loyal crowd who party there,” she continued. “I am bringing with me my Union collective crew again, plus have invited two artists whom I respect hugely – Jennifer Cardidi and Victor Ruiz.”
Each of the nights will also include a one hour opening set from a student from the Point Blank Music School, who staged a competition between the pupils last month. The four winners will be picked by Sama’ herself to fulfil the warm up duties.
“I thought it would be nice to welcome a new generation of artists through the venue so I’ve asked the wildly-talented music students at Point Blank to submit DJ mixes and help warm up the party,” Sama’ said. “This will be a special start to the year.”

Previous DJs to have previously held a Friday residency include Saoirse, Or:la, Yung Singh, Shanti Celeste, Kasra and SHERELLE.
Tickets start at £5, and a sign up form to access them can be found here.
