Techno originator Kevin Saunderson is embarking on a new era of his e-Dancer project, with his son Dantiez joining the fold.

The first collaborative release from the Detroit techno duo is a single titled ‘Melodica’, released today (October 23) via One House and premiered by Mixmag.

The four-minute track is brimming with the blend of warmth, soul and a space-aged dynamism that saw Kevin Saunderson establish e-Dancer as one of the all-time definitive techno acts - with 1998 debut album ‘Heavenly’ on Planet E heralded a seminal release of the genre - as well as weaving fresh influence from Detroit’s music scene into the formula.

Also a former member of the Belleville Three, Kevin Saunderson helped pioneer techno as a sound and cultural movement, and has stayed at the top of the game as one if its leading figures ever since.

Speaking about the new era of e-Dancer, Kevin Saunderson said: "Dantiez sounds like me. Working on this next generation of e-Dancer with him, I'm more passionate and energetic than ever. This is about me, the pioneer, passing the torch to carry the legacy. I know it's in Dantiez's DNA. I know he’s ready."

Dantiez Saunderson was also a part of his father’s revived Inner City project, which returned in 2019 with a series of well-received live shows and first album of new material in 30 years.

Dantiez says: "When people hear the new music, I hope they feel the elevation and the synergy between the original e-Dancer and the new iteration."
