Gorillaz perform "augmented reality show" in London and New York
Fans can download an app to watch the animated band play at Piccadilly Circus and Times Square
Gorillaz have launched an "augmented reality show" with performances in London’s Piccadilly Circus and New York’s Times Square.
Taking over the landmarks, the animated band announced these shows earlier this month asking fans to download an app for them to watch the performances.
Blending real life and their iconic cartoon style, the show is directed by Jamie Hewlett alongside the Emmy-nominated director Fx Goby.

Last week, their single ‘Skinny Ape’ came out which they perform in this augmented reality concert.
Gorillaz has their eighth studio album ‘Cracker Island’, due for release on February 24.
Building up to its release, the band have already dropped ‘Cracker Island’ featuring Thundercat, ‘Baby Queen’,,‘New Gold’ featuring Tame Impala and Bootie Brown and artists such as Stevie Nicks, Beck and Bad Bunny are set to feature.

You can catch the show until June via downloading the app here and either visiting Times Square or Piccadilly Circus. People can also view the concert from home on the app.
