Dominowe announces new EP to be released in 2022

Dominowe has announced his new EP on imprint Gqom Oh! which is due for release next month.

Entitled ‘UMTHAKATHI’, the eight-track compilation sees the producer incorporating vocals into his work for the first time, alongside feel-good melodies and baselines.

The EP follows the release of his 2016 debut on Gqom Oh! With ‘Africas Cry’ and most recently his 2020 demo album ‘Away from Home’, which was a project that raised funds to rebuild his home studio after a traumatic break-in.

On the release, Dominowe tells Mixmag: "On my new EPUMTHAKATHI’, I express Gqom, sghubu and afrohouse - the styles I have drawn the most inspiration from since I started releasing music.”

“With This EP, I don't just express my style of hardcore Gqom, but I also bring in some melodies, baselines and my own voice on Woza and Amun. I am the Witch Doctor of Gqom - that is the message of my EP. My music will make you dance at a party, but it's also something you can listen to when you are alone and want to enjoy an album where every song is a different style of Durban Gqom.”
