Cody Currie announces debut album ‘Lucas’

London’s Cody Currie has just announced his debut album is landing this coming November via Berlin-based label Toy Tonics, titled ‘Lucas’.

The 14-track record and the producer’s first full-length project is set for release on November 4 on the label where he first shot to fame with EPs and singles such as ‘Metropolis’ and ‘Moves’ alongside artists such as Black Loops, Demuja, and Session Victim.

In an ode to the London-based DJ and producer’s family, ‘Lucas’ is set to traverse disco, jazz, house, funk, and experimental genres typical of his previous releases on Toy Tonics.

“[‘Lucas’] is an ode to my Spanish family name Lucas. My family are obsessed with music so it’s kind of a gift to them,” said Currie.

The 14-tracker will feature a number of artists including Eliza Rose, one of Currie’s most frequent collaborators, as well as Jitwam, Ziggy, and more.

“‘Lucas’ LP is a collection of tracks which I've either done myself around the world recording in different places or collaborating with my friends,” Currie said on the project.

He added that the record is inspired by ‘70s and ‘80s funk and disco artists including George Duke and Frank Zappa.

“Some of the tracks are quite deep and introspective, whilst other ones are more fun and silly like ‘That Stick’. Ultimately the album focuses on artists from everywhere around the world with different backgrounds and styles, to see what we can create together,” he said.
