Bristol’s Tokyo World festival cancelled over safety concerns

Tokyo World has announced it has cancelled its annual festival in Bristol, with just a few months to go before the event was due to take place.

Originally set to run on the weekend of September 15 at Eastville Park, Tokyo World has since released a statement explaining that it can no longer go ahead due to safety concerns.

The statement reads that the team behind the festival is “devastated” and “pretty lost for words”.

However, due to challenges with the location, the event can no longer continue even after Tokyo World claim to have “worked hard” with the local council and police.

We've worked hard with the Council and Police who have been supportive, but we have not been able to find workable solutions to the challenges of this location in order to keep the event safe and secure in the surrounding area and roads.

Planned to be the festival’s tenth anniversary, the statement says that it “may” return next year, however, “in a new location” due to “too many growing challenges with using Eastville Park this year that cannot be overcome.”

For refunds, the festival explains that day tickets, weekend tickets, group tickets and instalment tickets will be refunded at face value.

Tokyo World adds: “Please allow up to 14 days to receive your refund.”

This year’s festival was to be headlined by Pendulum and Rudimental both performing live.

Also billed for the festival were Headie One, The Blessed Madonna, Bad Boy Chiller Crew and many more.
