A man has been found guilty of manslaughter in connection with Bestival death
Ceon Broughton was found guilty of supplying Louella Fletcher-Michie with 2C-P
29-year-old Ceon Broughton has been found guilty of manslaughter in connection with the death of Louella Fletcher-Michie at Bestival in 2017.
Broughton supplied Fletcher-Michie, the daughter of Holby City actor John Michie, with a party drug called 2C-P which led to the overdose that caused to her death in a woodland nearby the festival site in Dorset.
Broughton was released without charge after his initial arrest in September 2017, but was re-arrested in February 2018 as the investigation advanced.
Following the verdict, he will remain in custody and be sentenced by judge Mr Justice Goose on Friday at Winchester crown court.
Jurors at the trial were told Broughton filmed Fletcher-Michie as her condition declined and ignoring her requests to ring her mother for help.
Fletcher-Michie’s parents rushed to Dorset to her aid after telephoning Broughton and hearing their daughter “screeching” in the background. She was described as in the throes of a “bad trip” during which she “tried to eat twigs”.
The prosecution found fault in Broughton for delaying seeking help for Fletcher-Michie because he was serving a suspended jail sentence and was worried about being imprisoned, saying his actions were “born of selfishness”.
