Arcadia launches competition to DJ on its spectacular Afterburner stage

Arcadia is giving away the chance to perform on its spectacular Afterburner stage this summer, which has previously appeared at festivals including Glastonbury and Burning Man.

The competition offers a chance to play atop the Afterburner stage at Bristol’s Valley Fest, which takes place from August 3 - 6 this year in Chew Manga. Headliners include DJ Flight, Groove Armada, and Crazy P.

Arcadia announced the competition earlier this week, asking up-and-coming DJs to submit a mix catered to an early evening slot at the festival, which will be judged based on mixing abilities and tune selection.

One lucky winner will perform on Friday, August 4, between 7:PM and 8:PM on the iconic stage. Conditions for entry ask that all applicants are 18-years-old or over, and the mix must be no longer than 40 minutes.

“It’s the stuff DJ dreams are made of,” reads Arcadia’s website. “To reiterate this is an early evening set – so please cater carefully for this time. It isn’t about playing bangers, it’s a warm-the-weekend up slot.”

The Afterburner stage has travelled across the world since it was first unveiled, hitting festivals such as Nevada’s Burning Man, Bristol’s Love Saves The Day, and Glastonbury Festival.

The 360-degree stage constructed from a real jet engine features a DJ booth at its centre, pyrotechnics, lights, and “an incredible ambisonic soundsystem” according to the Arcadia team.

The deadline for entrants is Monday, June 5, at 11:59PM. All applicants must fill out a form and submit their mix via SoundCloud or Mixcloud. Find out more here.
