Richie Hawtin co-designed the fully analogue MODEL 1.4 mixer
PLAYdifferently has unveiled the MODEL 1.4 DJ mixer, co-designed by Richie Hawtin.
Arriving four years after the MODEL 1, the four-channel MODEL 1.4 is more compact with home use and DJ streaming in mind. Each of the four channels contain hi- and low-pass filters, precision SCULPT EQ and analogue overdrive circuit. The new version of PLAYdifferently series is priced at $2,299/€2,199 and is expected to ship this month.

The pure analogue unit, built in the United Kingdom and engineered by Andy Rigby-Jones, also comes with two stereo send and return channels, two mix outputs, two high performance phono preamps, two independent cue systems, Balanced Mix Bus with >110dB of dynamic range and D-Sub I/O for highend sound card integration.
If you're one for sizeable DJ setups, the Mixer Link System allows you to connect numerous PLAYdifferently mixers together.

Talking about the MODEL 1.4, Richie Hawtin said: “With MODEL 1 we set out to build a new breed of DJ mixer, more akin to an instrument, with levels of control and quality that inspired creativity. We always felt a compact version would be welcomed in home studios and perfect for streaming. At a more affordable price, but with no compromise to the purity of design and components, this is a smaller format MODEL 1 with four channels, perfect for the home, as a compact club mixer, or as a nimble tour instrument.
"MODEL 1.4 remains true to our original concept of ‘DJ mixer as instrument’ and delivers it in a compact, more affordable package. I can’t wait to see and hear how it’s going to inspire the current generation of DJs.”
The mixer will be used for the first time at HÖR Berlin on Friday, January 22. Watch the MODEL 1.4 launch video and see some images below.
