Tom Misch to release electronic tracks under new Supershy alias
The jazz and soul musician changes pace on his new mixtape coming this year
Typically known for his fusion of jazz, soul, funk, and hip hop, Tom Misch is shifting gears this year on his brand new project, Supershy, releasing a slew of electronic tracks under a fresh alias.
Having already dropped two new tracks earlier this year alongside the announcement of the new moniker, Misch is now readying up to release two more this coming Thursday.
In April, the singer took to Instagram to share the cover art for his first new music under the alias. “I present to you Supershy,” he announced.

“I’ve always loved electronic dance music and wanted to create an alter ego where I could explore and release these new sounds… very excited to share the first two tracks ‘Happy Music’ and ‘Something On My Mind.”
Misch’s new music has been likened to his influences of classic Detroit house, paying homage to trailblazers including Kerri Chandler and Larry Heard, a step in a new direction for the jazz musician.
On Thursday, August 11, Supershy is set to drop two new tracks: ‘Change / Take My Time’. The release comes ahead of a mixtape pack due to land this year featuring already released songs and more forthcoming music.

Tom Misch’s solo projects have garnered over one billion streams across his catalogue and seen him work with the likes of Loyle Carner, GoldLink, Freddie Gibbs, Novelist, and regular collaborator Yussef Dayes. The musician’s 2018-released record, ‘Geography’, earned global acclaim.
Earlier in July, Misch announced a postponement of his Australia and New Zealand tour on Instagram due to mental health issues. “I’m very sad that I’m unfortunately going to have to cancel my shows,” he told fans.
“I’ve been touring a lot this year, and after such a long break during the pandemic it’s taken a toll on my mental health, which I’ve realised I need to prioritise right now.”
