Dan Snaith, otherwise known under his Caribou and Daphni aliases, has released his first new music in three years as Daphni.

The multi-faceted producer returned today under the Daphni moniker to release ‘Cherry’, a rolling dance track aided by trippy visuals in a brand new music video.

“New music from me under my Daphni alias,” the DJ and producer announced on Instagram today, May 23. The track received a surprise release via his imprint JIAOLONG.

‘Cherry’ is the first music project from Daphni since his 2019-released EP ‘Sizzling’, a 5-track record featuring some of Daphni’s biggest singles to date including the eponymous lead track sampling Paradise’s 1981-released ‘Sizzlin’ Hot’.

"Nothing says love like an endlessly spiralling polyrhythm on an FM synth. Making this track was just a matter of getting the snake to eat its own tail,” Snaith said of the new single.

‘Cherry’ lands alongside a psychedelic visualiser made by Damien Roach, otherwise known as 555x5555, who used “bleeding edge AI technology” to create a trippy, kaleidoscopic music video.

The Canadian producer teased the latest single at Caribou and Snaith shows in recent months, while friends of the producer have done the same leading fans to speculation of a new Daphni release.

Snaith’s last track dropped in 2021 with ‘You Can Do It’, an uptempo track under his Caribou moniker and the first release since 2020's critically acclaimed full-length record, ‘Suddenly’.

“I feel like when I listen to this album – or at least the mellower moments – I hear the kind of music that wants to comfort, wants to give a big hug, to reassure and be supportive,” he told Mixmag in his cover interview ahead of the launch of ‘Suddenly’.
