Sotheby's is auctioning off rare trainers by Nike, Adidas and Kanye West

One of Nike's earliest ever running shoes, anyone?

Limited-edition trainers by Nike, Adidias and Kanye West will be on sale at Sotheby's in New York.

This will be Sotheby’s first ever auction fully dedicated towards vintage and retro kicks. The NYC auction house will sell 100 pairs of the most exclusive trainers.

One of the products on sale will be one of Nike's first ever running shoes, the handmade Moon Shoe, with a pre-sale estimation value of $160,000. Designed by Nike co-founder Bill Bowerman, it remains one of only 12 pairs created by the former track coach and was initially designed for runners at the 1972 Olympics.

Other sneakers up for sale include the 2011 and 2016 renditions of the Back to the Future Part II limited-edition shoes by Nike. The 2016 version of the shoe, which comes with self-lacing technology is expected to be sold for between $50,000 and $70,000.

Additional vintage sneaks in the sale come from Adidas, Air Jordan and Kanye West’s Yeezy collection.

John McPheters, co-founder of New York-based Stadium Goods, which is teaming up with Sotheby's, said: “We’ve long talked about how sneakers are this generation’s luxury fashion, and being able to collaborate with a brand with the history and esteem of Sotheby’s is further proof of that."

The highest price ever paid for trainers at an auction was $190,373 in 2017 for a pair of signed converse which were worn by NBA legend Michael Jordan in 1984 Olympic basketball final.
