Shazam now offers gig recommendations based on users' history
The music discovery app's new Concerts section is only available on the iOS version
Apple-owned Shazam has added a new gig recommendation feature, that utilises users' listening history to inform its suggestions.
The new "Concerts" section uses concert information via Bandsintown, a recommendation platform that licensed its data to Apple in 2022. When a user taps on a specific concert, they will have the option to save the event within the app or add it onto their calendar.

Users will be able to purchase tickets through a link, and listen to music from the artist via the app or digital streaming platforms like Apple Music or Spotify.
This is the latest Apple app to receive a concert discovery feature, following similar additions to the Apple Music and Apple Maps apps this year. A special 40 Music Guides curated by Apple Music editors which spotlight culturally significant venues is also on offer on Apple Maps.
Shazam began in 2002, where fans could text number 2850 if they wanted to identify a song before it became an app-based tool.

The first song to be Shazam'd was T. Rex's 'Jeepster', while Eminem's 'Cleanin' Out My Closet' was the first track to reach 1,000 Shazams. Kesha's 'TiK ToK' and Gotye's 'Somebody That I Used to Know' featuring Kimbra were the first songs to hit one million and 10 million searches respectively.
Drake is the artist with the most Shazams, clocking over 350 million through his various original material and features, while Tones' 'Dance Monkey' is the most Shazam'd song with over 41 million searches.
