Fox is launching a Shazam-based musical game show
Think you can beat Shazam?
Since Shazam’s introduction back in 2008, users around the world have used it to identify unknown tracks that melt their minds. Earlier this month, Mixmag investigated the top ten tracks Shazam’d around Ibiza.
With more than 25 billion Shazam queries and hundreds of millions of users around the world, the mobile application now hits a new milestone.
Major television network Fox will be introducing a new musical game show centered around the popular app, allowing competitors to test their knowledge of song identification.
Individuals competing on the new game show, titled Beat Shazam, will have to identify a track in a similar fashion to the way the actual Shazam app works. Successful competitors will then see if they can beat the app in order to earn the top prize.
Beat Shazam will look to fill the void of Fox’s unscripted programming focusing on music following American Idol’s 15-season run, which ended back in April.
An official launch date for Beat Shazam is still to be announced.
