Sampa The Great announces debut album 'The Return' on Ninja Tune
The Australia-based artist's album arrives on September 13
Sampa The Great has announced her debut album, 'The Return'.
To be released on September 13 via Ninja Tune, Sampa's debut album fuses jazz, spoken word and hip hop, featuring collaborations with Ecca Vanda and London jazz collective Steam Down.
Silent Jay, Clever Austin and Blue Lab Beats provided production, while Stone Throw artist Jonwayne, MsM and Andre Eremin mixed the LP.
The Zambian-born artist premiered new single 'OMG' on Zane Lowe's Beats 1 show, also releasing the video which was filmed between South Africa and Botswana.
On why she included her home in the video, Sampa said: “Home is described in a lot of ways and means a lot of different things to different people. I had to redefine in my mind and in my spirit what home means.”
Sampa's currently on tour, including a show supporting Sons Of Kemet at Somerset House in London on July 13. She heads on a tour of Australia and New Zealand in October before returning to Europe in November for shows in London, Paris, Amsterdam. Brussels and more.
