R3 Soundsystem to host Ukraine Emergency Fundraiser

DJs performing in support include, Róisín Murphy, Midland, Hot Chip (DJ set) and more

R3 Soundsystem, London’s radical protest and music collective will be throwing a Ukraine Emergency Fundraiser to raise money for the people of Ukraine.

On Thursday morning, February 24, Russia’s President Vladimir Putin ordered his army to invade neighbouring Ukraine causing a refugee crisis in the nation.

The Ukraine Emergency Fundraiser will be a 9-hour event on March 11 at South London venue MOT.

Confirmed DJs so far include Hot Chip (DJ set), The Blessed Madonna, Midland, Roisin Murphy and more.

According to R3, Róisín Murphy has cancelled her plan to perform in St Petersburg so that she can play this fundraiser instead.

All proceeds made will be donated to the event partners Bündnis Entwicklung Hilft (Alliance for Development Help), Fulcrum UA and All Out, “to provide humanitarian help on the ground, and support people in Ukraine and refugees in the neighbouring countries that they are fleeing to.”

Soho Radio and Love Music Hate Racism in London will also be broadcasting live on the night of the event.

R3 Soundsystem has said: “We have seen overwhelming support from so many artists that are watching in horror as events unfold, and are proud to be standing shoulder to shoulder with them in solidarity with Ukraine.”

Gideön, DJ and Founder of R3 Soundsystem says: “To see Putin crush the wonderful city of Kyiv and destroy the incredible cultural explosion was underway breaks my heart and makes my blood boil in equal measure. Music is our weapon and R3 Soundsystem will continue to use it as a force for both international solidarity and political change”
