Pusha T gives update on Madlib-produced album

"I can't put a date on it, but I'm definitely on it"

Pusha T has finally explained what the situation is with his Madlib-produced album.

In a Discord AMA session in March 2020, Pusha announced that he had the opportunity to work with Madlib describing it as a “bucket list thing” adding that he has a “hard drive full of gems” with Madlib.

Since then, he spoke with KAZI Magazine on the topic of Madlib saying that they are taking their time but he is “crafting and writing”.

He continued: "The fact that we’re in contact and everything is good, I see that happening. I can’t put a date on it, but I’m definitely on it.”

Last week Pusha dropped his album ‘It’s Almost Dry’ produced by Kanye West and Pharrell as well as his very-own live radio show ‘It’s Almost Dry Radio’ via Amp.

For his debut show, Pusha spoke with his manager Steven Victor and Noah Callahan-Bever of Idea Generation where the topic of a Madlib-produced album cropped up.

Pusha said he was “definitely going to work with Madlib,” and even “got some beats” and “chops from him.”

He explained: “I just think he’s really dope at finding ill sounds and ill chops, and things of that nature. But at the same time, it was feeling like a beat tape situation.”

Speaking on his 2018 album ‘Daytona’ he said: “When you think about ‘Daytona’, its just beats and hard raps. I wasn’t produced,”.

Adding: “The structure of Kanye West you know, taking these things out or whatever the case may be. Honestly, it was just that. 'It’s Almost Dry' is an exercise, definitely on the Pharrell side, in being produced.”
