2,000 volunteers needed for a series of pilot events in Berlin this weekend
Renate, Kitkat and other clubs will open their doors for PCR tested party-goers on Friday
Pilot club nights will go ahead this weekend across Berlin to test the potential of reopening nightlife in the city.
2,000 volunteers are needed to take part in the weekend-long pilot events from 10:PM this Friday through until midday on Sunday.
Each attendee will need to take a specified PCR test before and after the events to ensure safety and test the liability of reopening venues in Berlin. A €10 refund will be given back to party-goers after they complete a second PCR test, making the tickets just €5.
Six clubs will open across the weekend: Salon Zur Wilde Renate, Kitkat, SO36, Crack Bellmer, Festsaal Kreuzberg and Metropol.

Berlin's Senate Department for Culture and Europe arranged the test events in light of clubs reopening across Europe, with the UK, France, and other European countries now giving the nightlife industry the green light.
Germany’s Club Commission stated on their website, “the starting point for this pilot project is that opening steps for clubs cannot be sustainable as long as any opening steps are exclusively linked to incidence.
“The resulting lack of predictability poses a major problem for the industry and can be solved by scientifically based models that enable dance events even under pandemic conditions.”
Research into the reopening of clubs elsewhere in Europe might leave questionable fluctuations in statistics, with cases in the UK continuing to fall dramatically two weeks after venues opened their doors.
Elsewhere, the Netherlands shut down nightlife just two weeks after reopening clubs across the country due to mass spikes, with Spain following suit shortly after.

Events this weekend in Berlin will test the ability to maintain a safe club environment without the need for social distancing and masks. COVID-19 Cases remain low in Germany but continue to fluctuate each week.
Vaccinated and unvaccinated attendees can take part in the test events but will need to take a survey after. Tickets can be bought on August 3 for €15 with a €10 refund after the second PCR test.
