This is how much the new Technics SL-1200 MK7 will cost

Plus the release date of Technics' new DJ turntable

Reports are surfacing that Technics has revealed the price and release date of its new DJ-focused turntable, the SL-1200 MK7 and the SL-1210 MK7.

According to What Hi-Fi, the SL-1200 MK7, released in the US and Japan, will cost $1200. The SL-1210 MK7, possessing a different name for sale in the EU and UK, will cost £899 and €1000. While the names are different, there is no change in the actual turntables specifications.

Although the price may be higher than some vinyl enthusiasts expected, with many hoping it would be more competitive, the cost of $1200, £899 and €1000 is still cheaper than 2016's Technics relaunch with the SL-1200 G, a hi-fi turntable costing $4,000.

The updates to the SL-1200 MK7 and the SL-1210 MK7 include a microcomputer, a coreless direct drive motor for more rotation accuracy, power and reliability, the newest motor control technology, improved tracking, a new stylus illuminator and a reverse play function as well as a matte black finish with an all-black tonearm. Reports coming in also state that the SL-1200 MK7 and the SL-1210 MK7 will be released in May 2019.
