Youth Music launches country-wide NextGen networking workshops

The workshops are to include peer networking, and panel discussions, providing access to music and culture brands including Meta and Levis

Youth Music has announced a series of networking workshops in partnership with Young Guns Network and AWAL.

Starting in London at Sony Music Entertainment's AWAL office, the workshops will reach Birmingham, Bristol, and Glasgow in an effort to support creatives UK-wide.

The events are to be offered to 18-30-year-olds at a price point of £5 a ticket, with Youth Music stipulating that the fee can be waived for those facing financial challenges.

A national charity, Youth Music’s NextGen Community aims to foster inclusivity and diversity in the music industry by creating equal opportunities for those who face barriers to entry.

To achieve this, Youth Music has partnered with Young Guns Network, a professional network “produced by and for young people in the music industry,” to offer an updated professional networking experience that hopes to be more diverse and accessible.

In a press release, Youth Music reported their research found that 77% of emerging creatives pointed to a “lack of industry connections” as a barrier to accessing a career in the music industry.

The program is focused on networking and will bring participants to the offices of music and cultural brands including Sony Music’s record label AWAL, Facebook’s Meta, Levi's, and more.

Participants can expect to learn about artist marketing, social media practices, and how to work with brands while connecting with other creatives in panel discussions, workshops, and peer performances.

The first event is to take place January 30 at Sony Music Entertainment's AWAL office in London, in partnership with The Young Guns Network.

The Young Guns Network shared the event via their Instagram, writing that the speakers for the event are expected to be announced soon.
