Ministry of Sound unveil new club concept, Sovereign

The London club will present one-of-a-kind rings to its most beloved DJs and residents

Long-standing London club Ministry of Sound is set to introduce a brand new concept next month, titled Sovereign.

The club concept, according to MoS, was made to honour some of dance music’s brightest stars with a run of shows celebrating the best in house, jungle, UKG, tech-house, and beyond.

The first event is set to honour legendary Welsh DJ Sasha, who was also recently awarded an honorary doctorate in music from Bangor University.

Each event celebrates one artist who has made a huge contribution to electronic music during their career, awarding them with a ‘one-of-a-kind Sovereign ring’ ahead of their all-night headline set.

“Sovereign: our newest night and the most important club concept to hit Ministry of Sound in a generation,” MoS announced on Instagram yesterday.

“Our debut event, and the recipient of ring number 001, will be progressive house hero, Sasha,” they announced. “With a career spanning decades, as both a solo artist and in collaboration with John Digweed, Sasha was the original superstar DJ.”

The event is set to take place on November 12, the first in a string of shows under the new Sovereign concept by Ministry of Sound. “Sasha will return to Ministry of Sound for our biggest collaboration to date,” added MoS.

“As the headliner of our debut Sovereign event, we will present a night dedicated to celebrating his outstanding contribution to dance music and present him with the very first Sovereign ring. The King returns to the Castle.”

The upcoming schedule of Sovereign events, and the artists set to be honoured, has not yet been revealed. Find tickets to the first event with Sasha here.
