Spain's Tourism Minister has said that the country could launch a vaccine passport as early as May

Ibiza could welcome tourists with a vaccine passport from May.

The island wants to be among the first places in Europe to introduce international travel with a vaccine passport and the Spanish government has been working with the EU as well as independently to introduce such a scheme as well as reintroduce the safe travel corridors that were in place last summer.

Now Spain's Tourism Minister Reyes Maroto has announced to Spanish station Antena 3 TV that a vaccine passport to enter the country could be in place as early as May.

She is keen to launch the vaccine passport to coincide with the FITUR tourism fair in Madrid on May 19, which is also in line with her previous promise of opening Spain to tourism by the spring.

This is all good news for Ibiza, with clubs such as Ibiza Rocks and Amnesia announcing parties and 92 per cent of Ibiza fans saying they'll be visiting the island this summer if it's safe to do so.
