The sounds are inspired by GAIKA's youth and capture the buzz of London's multitude of sounds; it gives both composers and producers a chance to use unique sounds to enhance their music.
The compilation features "harsh bassy synth drones, tape-processed drums, pads, leads and warped vocal effects."

It is inspired by the surroundings of South London, where GAIKA grew up and was created the part in lockdown where Londoners were " forced to reflect on the state of the city in the wider context of the world."
Speaking on this project, GAIKA says: “People describe my records as the sound of the memory of the club as opposed to being really direct dance floor music. People tend to come to me because they want all of this cinematic, ambient stuff in their records, and the more that I've grown as a composer, I've really leaned into that.

“I want people to just create new music, whether using the library to score in a more experimental way, or trying to push the boundaries of what they know without necessarily investing thousands and thousands into all of this hardware…”
War Island is not just this one compilation, but is also an extended anthology of projects by GAIKA which is set to include a record, sample library, an installation, film, writing, and technology - all of which represents the universal experience of modern existence, living amongst urban sprawl, and how Britain has changed in a post-pandemic world.
